From the Shadows: a tour of the London churches of Nicholas Hawksmoor

Our current lecture programme includes a talk by architectural historian and curator Owen Hopkins on the architecture of the brooding genius Nicholas Hawksmoor.  As a sequel to his talk  Owen Hopkins has agreed to lead a tour by coach of Hawksmoor’s six surviving London churches.  These are: St. Alfege, Greenwich; St. Anne’s, Limehouse; St. George in the East; Christ Church, Spitalfields, St. Mary Woolnoth; St. George’s, Bloomsbury.
The tour will take place on Saturday 22 April 2016 and will be limited to thirty people on a first-come basis.  We will meet at 08.30 am on the Level in the lower section of Ditchling Road (north of St. Peter’s Church) and return to Brighton for 07.00 pm.
Please bring a picnic lunch with you. There will be some walking, but nothing strenuous.  Wear good shoes and be prepared for the vagaries of April weather.
The price per person is £40.

This tour is now fully booked and the waiting list is closed.
